Isaiah 61:3 Niv

and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

& our origins

Crown & Ashes was founded back in 2017 when Oksana, the founder & main blog contributor, kept getting confirmation to start sharing her story. She had always had an interest in writing, so she decided to take a leap of faith & decided to start a blog. Stumbling upon Isaiah 61:3 NLT, “...he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair...”, it was like the Lord was telling her that her story wasn’t over, that he was crowning her & giving her beauty for her sins, her ashes. He was also showing her that her past does not define her, but that her mistakes can bring Him glory by helping others not make the same mistakes.

Authenic

Honesty and authenticity are crucial to Crown & Ashes. You can’t get God’s redemption without coming to him and admitting you need Him.

Empathetic

Everyone has ashes they aren’t proud of and aren’t comfortable talking about. We have created a safe space for them to get freedom & healing.

Loyal

We won’t abandon God for any reason. He’s been too good to us for us to leave. We also stick with our sisters in Christ through their darkest moments.

Hopeful

Everyone is all too aware of how real life can get, but despite that truth we will remain hopeful. God can and He will redeem us.

Obedient

1 Samuel 15:22 NLT says, “…Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.” Because we are grateful to God for his mercy & kindness, we choose to obey His commands. We don't always get it right, but we always try our best.
